Our newest publication, "Phosphatidylglycerol is the lipid donor for synthesis of phospholipid-linked enterobacterial common antigen," is out today in the Journal of Bacteriology!
In this paper, we investigated the synthesis of a form of ECA that is linked to a phospholipid through a phosphodiester bond--it is the headgroup of the phospholipid. We found that a specific phospholipid, phosphatidylglycerol is the donor of the phospholipid portion of the molecule.
Congratulations to Kinsey Morris, former Mitchell Lab undergrad and research assistant, on this publication!
